Statements can be “Yellow card” for Azerbaijan

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan at a joint press conference with Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger commented upon OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs and international community response to the June 18 incident on Azerbaijan-Nagorno Karabakh contact line.
Note that Azerbaijani armed group trespassed into Nagorno Karabakh territory on June 18. Four Armenians were killed and another four injured in the clash between Armenian and Azerbaijani soldiers.
The Armenian Foreign Minister said that so as not to encourage Azerbaijan’s bellicose statements and violations of ceasefire “concrete names should be mentioned” and it should be said exactly who is responsible for the incident.
“So as not to encourage those making bellicose statements, rejecting the proposal of strengthening ceasefire and those grossly violating the ceasefire agreement, so as not to encourage those who refuse to withdraw the snipers from the contact line, those who organize provocations and make obvious attempts to fail the negotiations, it is better to mention concrete names and to say who is responsible,” the Minister said.
According to Mr. Nalbandyan, the authors of statement, especially after the latest events, say that it is clear for everyone who is the addressee of those statements since it is not Armenia that makes bellicose statements, it is not Armenia that refused to withdraw the snipers, rejected the ceasefire proposed by OSCE.
“That is, these statements and appeals are first of all addressed to Azerbaijan, they can be a “Yellow card” for Azerbaijan,” the Minister said noting that Azerbaijan seeks to give a religious character to the Nagorno Karabakh problem and “to involve the Islamic world in its adventures, what is very dangerous.”
“In that sense I think the international community should express an exact position so that Azerbaijan will not be encouraged and will not have the impression that the international community can allow or be understanding towards any infringement, bellicose approach and statement,” Edward Nalbandyan said.
