Warlike statements by Azerbaijani President and Foreign Minister are wish-wash, article by Turkish Milliyet daily correspondent Semih Idiz says.
According to him, billionth Azerbaijani military costs cannot determine the outcome of war in favor of the country, as the human factor plays critical role.
Information about the Azerbaijani army state gives rise to discredit its combat proficiency. Besides, it is unclear who will provide assistance to Azerbaijan in case of hostilities. Will patrolling Armenia-Turkey border Russia do so? Baku intends to look to be helped by Moscow, realizing that Washington will be vexed with Ankara for hesitation in relations’ normalization with Yerevan. But the hope that Moscow will assist Baku does not hitch in with logic.
Obviously, none of OSCE Minsk Group countries will assist Baku. Islamic Iran will not do so as well, as the country having issues with Azerbaijani national minority is in close ties with Armenia. In case of war help might come from Turkish nationalist circles. Perhaps, Ankara will offer diplomatic assistance, but hardly – the military aid, Idiz emphasized concluding diplomatic solution to Karabakh conflict has no alternative.
