Turkish Vice-Premier frightened again?
August 21, 2010 11:00
Turkish Vice-Premier Cemil Cicek once again voiced anti-Armenian statements.
During his meeting with the Turkish businessmen, Cicek noted that Turkey had been terrorized for 40 years, NTV reported. “There is a close link between Armenian “terror” and terror of PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party), they are blood kin. However, Armenians have bowed out, passing the baton to PKK,” he added.
Back in 2009 Cicek expressed his fear toward Armenians when first Kurd was elected at the local elections in Igdir where Azerbaijanis had been elected for recent 85 years. “Kurds settled down near the Armenian border,” he said then.
In a few months the Kurdish Mayor was jailed, accused of links with PKK.
There is a kind of tradition in Turkey: if Turks cannot tackle the issue or struggle against something the problem is immediately ascribed to Armenians.
