Washington intends to activate a missile shield over southern Europe as part of its effort to shore up regional defenses despite a missile threat from Iran, The Washington Post reports.
U.S. Defense Department plans to establish a key radar ground station in Turkey or Bulgaria in 2011.The United States is also working with Israel and allies in the Persian Gulf to build and upgrade their missile defense capabilities, the source says.
Earlier it was planned to establish stations in Poland and the Czech Republic.U.S. new administration decided to find a compromise solution to the problem.
