Last night U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke to RA President Serzh Sargsyan on the phone. According to RA Presidential website, Clinton informed Serzh Sargsyan of the details of Erdogan-Obama meeting. In the course of conversation, Secretary of State underlined that U.S. will sequentially assist early Armenian-Turkish relations’ normalization without preconditions.
Serzh Sargsyan asked Clinton to convey President Obama his gratitude for consistent support to Armenia-Turkey rapprochement. He reaffirmed Armenia’s readiness to normalize relations with Turkey and meet international commitments, expressing hope that Turkey will display like readiness and responsibility on the matter.
Discussing NKR issue, Hillary Clinton restated the U.S. readiness to contribute to peaceful and lasting settlement of Karabakh conflict, pointing out that White House considers it and Armenia-Turkey reconciliation two separate processes. Progress in each will promote the establishment of peace and stability in the region.
