Though the war over Nagorno Karabakh isn’t over, the Armenians won the battle, coordinator of Sardarapat initiative Zhirayr Sefilyan told Tert.am.
“The reservation of the victory won in the battle is a matter for the diplomats to be in charge, who failed their mission from the very beginning, and the Armenians’ condition deteriorated day by day,” said Mr Sefilyan.
According to him, if the war is resumed after warring parties sign a ceasefire followed by talks held for many years, then it is the diplomats to blame for it.
“And they must understand that they will stand trial at the military court, should the war resume,” he explained.
Asked to comment on the formulations of the recent statement issued by the OSCE Field Assessment Mission after it was conducted in the territories surrounding Nagorno Karabakh, Mr Sefilyan said that they are the result of a statement by President Serzh Sargsyan in an interview to a Syrian newspaper during his visit to Syria, when he said that “the Armenian side has not resettled the liberated territories.”
The OSCE FAM statement had used also the Azerbaijani version of Karabakh’s capital Stepanakert – Khankendi.
“What I am saying is that both the circulation of the word Khankendi 20 years later and stressing again the “occupied territories,” and most importantly, the conduct of that Field Assessment Mission, i.e. for all this it is Serzh Sargsyan to be held responsible. Certainly, this entire process [takes place] to the detriment of Armenia,” said Zhirayr Sefilyan.
