All Armenian Telethon
to start on
November 25
Traditional All Armenian Telethon of the All Armenian Hayastan Foundation will start on November 25, said at today’s press conference Foundation’s Executive Director Ara Vardanian. He said that since tomorrow the fund-raising will be pushed and will last until late September.
This year donations can also be given via text-messages to the number 8-000. The cost of a text-message is 500 drams. The Telethon’s start will follow a charity dinner in Moscow with participation of presidents of Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. A charity dinner will also be held in Argentine. The telethon across Europe will be held on November 17-19.
The Public Television Channel of Armenia, Shant Channel, Armenia Channel will air the marathon.
Ara Vardanian told reporters that VivaCell-MTS has been acting as marathon’s general sponsor over past three years. Its total donations are $2,3 million; this year the company will donate 163 million drams.
This year’s donations will be directed to solve a water supply system in Nagorno Karabakh and to support rural development projects in Armenia.
“Every single cent is being donated not to the Foundation but to Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. We are just mediators,” said Vardanian adding that the Foundation has open and clear reports on donated and spent money.
“If your activities weren’t open, we wouldn’t be here with you,” said Director General of VivaCell-MTS Ralph Yirikian.
Among marathon’s other sponsors are: Ameriabank, Ardshininvestbank, Akba Bank, Artsakh Bank, and Haypost.
