Governor’s apology
for anti-Armenian
statements

The Turkish Democratic Platform organization including 32 NGOs sharply criticized Batman province Governor who allowed invectives against Armenians and Kurds.
According to the Turkish Hurriyet, in the course of a press conference with participation of Democratic platform’s representatives, Mayor of Batman, the head of Batman office of the Peace and Democracy Party and the head of Eğıtım-sen educational center issued an ultimatum against province’s Governor Ahmet Turhan demanding his resignation and apology for his fascist and racist statements regarding Armenian and Kurdish population.
The chairman of Batman branch of Teacher’s Trade union Salih Erol noted that they strongly oppose Governor’s statements, namely Kurds demanding school education on their native language are dishonest and serve Armenians’ interests. Critical statements against Armenians, the most ancient residents of these lands reveal Governor’s true face, Etrol stressed. He also called on the Governor to apologize and resign. Erol stated that such conduct of the Governor should get an adequate response in future as well.
