Amnesty International Film Festival opened Thursday at the VanCity Theatre in Vancouver Canada. Best International Historical Documentary Award winner (New York) documentary on 1915 Armenian Genocide, “The River Ran Red” was one of the highlights of the festival.
Directed by J. Michael Hagopian, 59 min film is an intense account of the epic search for survivors of the Armenian Genocide of 1915. From 400 testimonies of survivors and eyewitnesses, award-winning filmmaker J. Michael Hagopian weaves a story of terrifying intensity. This film takes audiences from the high land waters of the Euphrates River to the burning deserts of Syria.
