NATO is coordinating a disaster relief exercise in Armenia. It will conduct the consequence management field exercise, dubbed "Armenia 2010" from September 11-17 in the city of Arzni, in the Kotayk region next to Yerevan in Armenia.
333 experts and observers from 28 countries and 5 international organizations are participating in this exercise.
Ten specialists from Turkey will also take part in them.
Armenia's Ministry of Emergency Situations told Tert.am that the Turkish specialists arrived in Armenia via Georgia and the Czech Republic.
There was much speculation earlier that Turkey would temporarily open the border with Armenia for its specialists to attend these exercises.
But Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said in a few occasions that the border would not open even temporarily.
The Turkish-Armenian rapprochement was stalled due to Turkey's linking the opening of the border to the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh issue and its delay of the ratification of the Armenia-Turkey Protocols.
As a result Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree on April which suspended the ratification of those protocols.
