is not 'dead': Abdullah Gul

Armenia-Turkey rapprochement process continues silently, Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul said in an interview with Turkish journalists on his way to London.
“The rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia is not dead; nor is it frozen. Certain developments have just entered into a period of silent diplomacy,” the Turkish leader said, asked why he is expected to be awarded a prize in London when no developments are being observed in the Armenia-Turkey reconciliation.
Recently Mr Gul has for several times made statements on what he has termed “silent diplomacy.”
In an interview with Wall Street Journal earlier, Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan dismissed claims by the Turkish side about the “silent diplomacy.
“There is neither ‘silent diplomacy’, nor ‘a second season’ of Zurich, nor any new rounds of negotiations, according to the information often spread by the Turkish media these days. The only remaining step in this long lasting process is the ratification and implementation of the Armenian-Turkish protocols without further ado,” Mr Nalbandyan had written.
On November 9, President of Turkey Abdullah Gul will be awarded Chatham House prize in London. It is an annual award given to the statesperson deemed by members of the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House to have made the most significant contribution to the improvement of international relations in the previous year.
