The problems of Georgian Armenians were the focus of Armenia-Georgian talks, says the 2010 annual report by Armenian Foreign Ministry.
According to the report, a number of meetings were held between Armenian and Georgian top officials in 2010. On January 26, Georgian Prime Minister Nika Gilauri paid a working visit to Armenia. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian visited Georgia on February 22-23 and June 13-15 respectively. On September 3-4, Georgian FM Grigol Vashadze paid a return visit to Armenia.
On March 1, through Armenia’s mediation the motorway gateway on the Russian-Georgian border, Upper Lars, resumed work, after staying closed for more than three years.
Last year was also significant in terms of Armenia-Iran relations. Iranian Ministers of Defense, Education and Science, Energy and Natural Resources made visits to in Armenia during last year.
On October 25-26, the Armenian delegation headed by Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan left for Tehran. On October 8-10, the Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani visited Armenia.
The activities of Armenia-Iran intergovernmental Commission were underway in 2010. On January 26-27, Iran’s Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki arrived in Armenia to attend the 9th session of the commission.
On September 15-16, the delegation headed by Edward Nalbandian was on a visit to Tehran to continue the political dialogue.
