Baku’s bellicose statements exacerbate situation,

The RA Ministry of Defense issued a statement condemning Head of the Press Service, Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Eldar Sabiroghlu, who said that official Yerevan’s initiative to withdraw snipers from the line of contact “will not resolve the problem.”
The RA Ministry of Defense reminds Mr. Sabiroghlu of the OSCE Minsk Group’s proposal not to station snipers on the contact line. The Armenian side considered it possible to accept the proposal, being well aware of the fact it can ease the tension on the contact line and reduce losses.
As regards Sabiroghlu’s statement on cease-fire violations, the RA Ministry of Defense reports the Armenian armed forces are strictly observing the cease-fire and only open retaliatory fire to neutralize the enemy. Striking evidence thereof is the June 18 intrusion of an Azeri task force into the Nagorno-Karabakh territory, which claimed human lives on both sides.
Instead of making constructive statements, Azerbaijan’s political and military leadership are making warlike statements and issuing threats, which exacerbates the situation on the contact line.
